i have a sony kp65ws510 it was not working when i got it, it would shut off as soon as powered on and the light would blink 6 times. i was also told by the previous owner that the convergence was messed up. i pulled the 2 boards replaced both ic chips and replaced a fuse on the d board and one on the g (?) board once everything was back together i tried to power it up and still the same problem 6 flashes and tv wont turn on.. any ideas? anything else i can check? any help is appriciated..
There can be many reasons for a 6 blink shutdown, unfortuinatley without doing some real troubleshooting, a firm diagnosis is difficult. But it is usaly on D board, somtimes on g or a boards aswell. You might want to get a pro to look at it to get a firm diagnosis. If you want to take a chance on D board which is the best bet, you need the serial number to determine the part number, there was an inproduction chance on this board and the serial number range will determine the board. Below is the chart for the d board.
The D Board has two part numbers. Depending on the sets serial number will determine
which D Board P/N should be ordered.
D Board P/N sets starting with 90XXXXX use P/N A-1302-708-A.
For KP-51WS510 with serial number starting with serial number 80XXXX use
D Board part number A-1302-708-A.
For KP-51WS510 with serial number starting with serial number 87XXXX use
D Board part number A-1302-180-A.
All other serial numbers not starting with 80 or 90 use D Board P/N A-1302-180-A
my serial is a 97xxxx so does that mean it would be the a-1302-180-a? do you have any part numbers for the g board? i found a number on the board itself that is a-1302-383-a is that the right part number? i have a friend that owns a tv repair shop he looked at both boards and said my g board looked like it had been messed with and there is a small copper connection on it that had been broken on the bottom does that sound like it could be the cause? where can i purchase the replacement boards? thanks
That number on the board is no longer available, this could be because the other board is a replacement board with modifications on the board. Also the other board is nla as well. This is typical of sony, they are no longer supporting this tv. According to the service bulliton i re-posted. a-1302-180-a is the correct part number, but try both part numbers for pts, if the part is not avaiable they may refurbish the board for you. You have to call them. website below.
Try a 3rd party board refurbisher like pts.

As far as G board is concerned, i am not looking at it so if your Friend is a tv tech, he is closer to this than i am because i don't have it in front of me. look for a part number on the "G" board, like you found on the "D" board.
sorry the a-1302-383-a was the number i found on the g board i found it on sony direct accessories it was a pretty reasonable price so i went ahead and ordered one. they list the a-1302-180-a but say it is out of stock.. so if the g board doesnt work i will have to find someone to rebuild the d board i guess.. well see thanks for the help
I recently had the same problem with my television and had a best buy technician come out and diagnose the problem. He told me that the d-board part #A-1302-180-A needed to be replaced, so I called PTS and they told me I can extract the board and send it off for rebuilding. I have almost completely extracted the board but there is one red wire that is connected to what looks like a grey transformer of some type and I can't figure out how to disconnect it so I can completely extract it and send it off for repair. Can anyone please help me out with this. I don't want to cut and resolder the wire unless I won't hurt any parts.
You might try replacing all three main boards in it this should fix your blink problem you might have a hard time finding them but i have a set of all three i pulled from a tv that needed a convergance chip on the red board ill take 125 for all three
