Please help! I own a Sharp LC-37HV4U television (made in Feburary 2003) and recently we were watching the TV and it just turned off and i was only getting a red light flashing on the power button. I called for service & Sharp referred us to an Electronic service rep around my area in NJ. They want $125 just to look at it. Has anyone had a problem like this and had it repaired?
Thanks!
it has gone into protect mode . it could be almost anything. if u dont have experience with fixing tvs it might be over your head. do u have a meter and can u solder.
I don't have experience fixing tvs, but I do have a meter and solder.
u will need the schematic. on the schematic is a ic for protect mode. u must read the ic legs for voltage the one that has a voltage incorrect. will be the section that is turning on the protect mode. it will either be x ray protection(tube or circuitkind of complicated for board connected to the tube),hv (flyback transformer hv transistor), power(voltage regulator, cap in circuit, transformer, or bridge retifier). this is complicatedfor a tv technician.this might be impossible for a layman.
Blkivry, Thanks for the reply. I got the monitor to work by holding the input and volume - at the same time then powering up the unit. That seamed to work for about since that problem happened, I had to do it two other times, however my luck ran out today, same problem with the blinking red light then I tried the input button and the - volume button, the tv went on, but I wasn't geting the picture, howerver I was getting sound. Any advise
u are missin high voltage. replace flyback transformer . thats the object eith the big red wire comming out of top. be careful cause that transformer has to be discharge before disconnecting red wire with a 10 meg resistor to ground.
its your input board more than likely. try another input but board if you can find one.or try soldering the contacts on the input board. try another input also.
Do you mean the Digital Video PCB, Part # KB453DE, I can't find one. This is the board that the two cables from the ASV box connects to. Do you know where I can find one. What do you mean by soldering? Should I check all of the contacts on the board (caps, & resistirs) and solder all of them?
