Best Xbox 360 Game

I'm considering buying an xbox 360, but I'm torn. To help me decide, I need an answer to the following question...

What game (currently-released or coming soon) would justify my purchase of the console?

Matt Whitlock
I suppose it would really

I suppose it would really depend on your gaming preferences. If you're anything like me none of the launch titles looked that appealing, though the King Kong game has some merit. The rest of the launch titles are more like XBOX ports with slightly better graphics.

DOA4 is scheduled to be released on 12-21, and that game looks pretty good. From there some future titles worth noting would be Burnout Revenge, Battlefield 2, The Godfather, Tomb Raider: Legend (Finally, a tomb raider game where raiding tombs is involved!), Splinter Cell Double Agent, and Superman Returns. Keep in mind that many of the titles I mentioned are getting into summer release dates, so I wouldn't say all of them are coming "soon".

That's okay -- summer titles

That's okay -- summer titles ostensibly means lower prices for the console ........ maybe!? A guy can hope can't he? Plus, for sure some of the "lines" will have died down.

I have to agree that the launch titles didn't really catch my eye and that King Kong looks cool. I'm not familiar with most of the other titles you mentioned.

My gaming preferences are: (favorite games = ) Diablo II, Command and Conquer, Civilization, Sim games, the Lord of the Rings hack and slash games for PS/2, and Wing Commander style space fighter games. Just to give you an idea. (Listing those makes me feel like such an 80's guy -- what happened to "Combat"?)

Matt's right, most of the 360

Matt's right, most of the 360 launch games aren't overly impressive. Gun is $10 more for the same game, for instance. Condemned: Criminal Origins shows off the 360 the most in my opinion and is quite fun. To be honest, Zuma Deluxe (downloaded via Xbox Live Arcade) has been getting the most play at my house... even my wife and inlaws loved playing it over the holidays!

Of the upcoming 360 games, I'm most anticipating the new Ghost Recon and updated Burnout Revenge. I'm not usually an RPG guy, but I must admit that Oblivion looks super sweet too.

I have your gaming solution, Jeff: a PC.

Wow, Ross, I had no idea our tastes in games were IDENTICAL!!! And if you like Diablo II and Warcraft, you'll LOVE World of Warcraft -- my newest replaced-star-wars-galaxies-after-they-screwed-it-up addiction.

Yes, Jackzilla. Condemned:

Yes, Jackzilla. Condemned: Criminal Origins is a helluva lot of fun to play. To me, that game alone was worth buying an Xbox 360 for. It is scary, suspenseful and even a little disturbing. I jumped in my seat a few times playing it! Trust me you will feel it when you play it. A rare gem of a game. Another game worth mentioning is Call of Duty 2. That game masterfully depicts WWII and the gameplay, graphics and weapons used look real. Also looks like a solid online game too. Although I would recommend spending a lot of time going through the campaigns.
