I have a Sony KP-51WS510 rear projection TV with convergence problems. I am replacing the convergence ICs and have gotten hung-up pulling the board. It seems that it is somehow secured in the area of the transformer (flyback). It's not lifting or sliding, I've pulled all of the board screws (I think) and am hesitant to "muscle" it. Any ideas on what I'm missing???
Using a mirror I was able to find the remaining screw (& yes, I am feeling a little "lacking" right now - lol).
The news ICs are soldered-in and I'm still having the same convergence problem. Is there some type of adjustment or reset that needs to be performed? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
There is a screw on the D board behind the gray flyback. Its hard to see. you might have to use a mirror or stick your head in the unit. after that you should be able to depress the 3 plastic clips to the front (rear of D board) and remove it. No need to remove wire from flyback because you can work on it by turning it over and placing it on a soft material. good tip is to cut the IC leads (cut them long) so you can heat the lead from the solder side and pull through the component side at the same time. saves the bother with much of the wicking and will prevent you from pulling up the pads.
any way of resetting convergence to factory specs. on a sony kp-51ws510 after new IC's have been installed?
