pico fuse testing

CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH PICO FUSE TESTING? THANKS

I HAVE SONY KP-46WT500 HAVING PROBLEM WITH CONVERGENCE.PICTURE LOOK BOW EFFECT AND 3D.

1.I HAVE CHANGED STK 392-560 ICS BOTH

STILL NO RESULT

2.THEN I READ ABOUT CHEKING PICO FUSES ON D & G BOARD.

ALL FUSES ARE ON THE D BOARD GIVE ME SOUND ON DIGITAL MULTIMETER ALL 6 ARE 3.15A

ON THE G BOARD THERE ARE TWO PICO FUSES THEY ARE 5.0A ONE OF THEM GIVE ME SOUND(BOTTOM) AND

ONE THERE IS NO SOUND (TOP)

WHAT I HAVE TO DO WHICH FUSES I HAVE TO CHANGE?

WITH SOUND? OR WITHOUT SOUND?

WILL MY TV  WORK'S  AFTER THAT?

THANKS

MOtvGuy
As I recall, those fuses are

As I recall, those fuses are part of the +22v and -22v B+ that feeds the convergence circuits.  When your multimeter gives off a beep in the ohms setting, it indicates a short.  That means the one that doesn't beep is open.  That is the bad fuse.

THANK'S MOTVGUY FOR YOUR REPLY. I AM GOING TO CHANGE THAT PICO FUSE.

I AM NEWBE TO ALL THIS TESTING .

CAN YOU GUIDE ME TO CHECK ICS WITH MULTIMETER  THAT I CHANGED I WANT TO MAKE SURE IS GOOD( +22 AND -22 TESTING)

IF YOU HAVE SERVICE MANUAL FOR SONY KP46WT500  EMAIL ME  AT   [email protected]  PLEASE . IF YOU DON,T HAVE ANY ONE WHO READS THIS HAVE ONE PLEASE SEND I WANT TO CHECK

AND FIX  CONVERGENCE SETTING  ISSUE ON MY TV.

ONES AGAIN THANK'S EVERY ONE HELP ME WITH THIS. I HAVE LEARNED SO MANY THING HERE.

You can't check IC's with a

You can't check IC's with a multimeter.  As far as the G board pico fuses, I'd also suggest making a visual check of the electrolytic capacitors on that board in the 22v circuits.  Look for one that may be bulged at the top and if it is, change it.  I don't have a schematic for you sorry.

I am very HAPPY SmileSmileSmileSmile . MY tv work like brand new after i changed two convergence ics and one pico fuse 5A on g board with the help off moderator LARRY , MOTVGUY,RUSTI and techlore.com forum.

Thank's everybody and MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I recently replaced two IC's

I recently replaced two IC's (original manufactures) on my Akai PTH5498. Upon power-up, the same problem presisted. One IC seems warm and the other is not. I have checked my solder and double checked wiring. Plenty of heat sink compound was used. I have read about everything I can find on this subject to no avail. Now my question, where are the pico fuses and how might I identify them on my board. Does anyone have any other suggestions for resolution?

I have replaced both ICs and

I have replaced both ICs and have replaced 1 5A Pico Fuse on my sony kp-46wt500. The picture is still kind of 3-d looking. All pico fuses on boards D and G around 3 on the ohms on the multimeter. I measured from the bottom of the boards, please let me know if this is incorrect otherwise how I should be testing the fuses.

Thanks

Also, i just felt the heat

Also, i just felt the heat sinks and ics after having tv on for about 30-45 mins. the one on the right is pretty wark both heat sink and ic, the one on the left both have no heat whatsoever. Let me know if this sounds like anything important.

if the the heat sink is cool,

if the the heat sink is cool, there is n open pico fuse omewhere, no power going to th IC

Ok thank you for the insight.

Ok thank you for the insight. I will go back through and recheck everything. Am i correct to say that there are 7 fuses on the D board and just 2 on the G board. Also I am using a multimeter and setting it to the ohm position and all the fuses have been reading a 0.3 on there. Is this the correct procedure for this. Once again Thank you Larry for the help

I have never counted hem mike

I have never counted hem mike but that ounds about right. you relly dhould be using service manual with this set to mke sure. Also double check all of the solder connetions.

Ok, so i went through

Ok, so i went through everything and had a local tv repair guy come over and help me with everything and help reading schematics. He agreed all fuses look good and he says that the new replacement IC on the heat sink that is not getting warm is most likely faulty and should be replaced again with another new one. So i am hoping this will work as I just ordered a new one and will replace it later this week. Let me know if ou agree with this analysis. Thanks

are you getting +22V on pin

are you getting +22V on pin 5 of IC (Stk392-560) and -22V on pin 4 use pin 1 for ground & did you buy ORIGINAL Sanyo STK's and not Cheap China made after markets which ic is not getting warm IC8001 or 8002 ?

I am getting the readings on

I am getting the readings on the pins of the IC. Still have the convergence issue and Left IC is not heating up at all.-

Hi i have a Sony rear

Hi i have a Sony rear projection tv model# KP-53V35 and like everybody else on this forum, i have a convergence problem....Now i ordered new IC's. the originals were STK392-010 and i have upgraded to STK392-040's that will be coming to me. when i took the tv apart and took out the D board, i found a 3.15A 125V fuse blown out in slot F1602. I replaced the fuse, to see if that could be part of the problem, but i just took it apart again to prepare for the new IC's to go in, and found that fuse beginning to blow out again. Do you know why this is happening?, i have not checked the pico fuses on the board yet but want to do that now. What pico fuses do i need to check, and will this solve the problem of the fuse continually blowing out?

Hello hey thanks guys this

Hello hey thanks guys this dialog helped me so much you guys are great I'll write a full descript once I get my head around it but thanx so much

Larry Dillon
most likely the fuse will

most likely the fuse will blow if the ic is bad(convergence ic(s) if there are new ic's installed and pico still blows than most likely short or solder splash on the new ic pins
Larry D

Larry Dillon
to properly test a fuse or

to properly test a fuse or pico get a meter with a continuity tester where if there is continuity when the two leads are put togeather the meter will beep that means the fuse is good when you hear the beep. but you should try to disconnect on side off of the board first if possible
