RCA 60" projection problems - PTK169PEC Chassis

I have a 60" rca projection, chassis PTK169PEC - the set has NO POWER, NO SOUND.

When you plug the tv in, you will hear "blip..blip...blip...blip" coming from the area of the Flyback Trans (which is leading me to believe the FBT or HV splitter is bad....whats your opinion?

Also i have another problem:

I have looked EVERYWHERE for the CR4118 diode, c4104, c4108, and c4102 caps, and i feel like an idiot. I cant find them anywhere... I was going to replace these as recommended during maintenence, and I cant locate them! I have even gone over the board with my magnifying glass on the under side, to no avail... the top ov the board is too hard to make anything out because it is a white board with light green markings!

Does anyone have a srevice manual or location of these components using the grid on the back side of the board?

Any help would be greatly valued, as I am steadily going insane!! LOL

P.S. -- Larry, I hope everything is going well after your surgery!

Thanks for the quick reply

Thanks for the quick reply Larry! I hope you are doing well. I will try what you suggested with the coil.

Its not trying to start up at all, so maybe the transformer is fine. Like I said it would make about 10-12 beeps or bleeps from the FBT area when I plugged it in and that was it. I will re-connect the FBT to the HV splitter and try your trick with the coil now!

Thanks again!

UPDATE- I tried the coil trick, and it did not make a change.. I will still persue changing the other suspect components.

I alreday am replacing Q401F regardless, This repair kit includes the IC, 4 caps and diode..not bad for less than 10.00! Thanks for the help (especially the pic)
I am having a horrible time reading this board.

you can upgrade the HOT and

you can upgrade the HOT and use a 2SD1881 or 2SD2580 just make sure to get Original Sanyo Japan made and not cheap after market made in china www.mcmelectronics.com has them at a good price .

Doin12volt
Well, I replaced all the caps

Well, I replaced all the caps marked, replaced the IC, and the Q401f HOT with a 2sd1881... hooked up all the connections, pushed the power button and heard a "SNAP" - smelled something.. checked the board again - cannot see any damage.. I know all the caps are in with the correct polarity, and the IC is in correctly as well. i cant find anything wrong, but it is still dead.

The HV Spliter may have been

The HV Spliter may have been damaged too because of the Power Supply Voltage was running to High trace the BIG Red Wire from the FLyback it will go to a Black Box that looks like this remove it and look on the bottom for any cracks or burn marks and look in the holes were the wires plug in for any burning it will look black down in the holes if burnt .

whats your power supply Reg. B+ voltage at Now ?

Larry Dillon
that would certainly do it as

that would certainly do it as well Good Luck!

Hello all, I've got an RCA

Hello all, I've got an RCA Model P60752EB, Chasis # PTK169PEC,
TV worked fine, shut it off one morning came home and it would'nt
turn on. I have another RCA bigscreen TV that I got from a frien a
few years back and basicly the same thing happened, but I think they
might have been whatching it when it went out, not to sure but anyway.
I got the TV bought the power supply kit for the 169 chasis cause I was
told that should fix the problem cause everything else checked out fine.
That board was a CTC169 chasis board but I don't think there is to much
difference between that board and the one I have now. The place I got the
kit from does'nt sale it anymore but I found one for $8.95 + $5.00 shipping.
I am just wondering if anyone thinks I should get the kit and replace the parts?
I did it befor and it worked so why not now. Also the fuse is'nt blown.
Like I said, I just shut it off came back home and would'nt turn on, man that
sucked. Any suggestions would be greatful. I am an electronics tech with a
degree in electronics that I got back in 1996. I've repaired a number of regular
TV's but have not so much experience with bigscreens. Let me know anyone. I'll
go ahead and get the kit and try it since all the posts above are old. Thanks

I was watching my 60" rca

I was watching my 60" rca rear projection tv. It turned itself off a few times but turned itself back on after 1 second..the next day it would not turn on at all..it makes the turning on sound 3 times but does not power up. Is this fixable???. It was fine before this happened..and is there a kit for this ??? Any answers are greatly appreciated. As I am watching a 15 " right now and it is similar to a postage stamp
