Mitsubishi WS-B55 - Buttons not responding

Hi,

I have a Mitsubishi WS-B55 HD Projection TV that just started experiencing a problem..

Last night I tried to turn my TV on with the remote but it did not work.

I turned it on from the front panel and that worked but the only other buttons that worked were "Device" and "Enter".

Device cycled thru the devices properly but when I hit "Enter" all it did was go to the next device.

I
am
able to power it off via the power button on the TV but once, that
didn't even work. Then I hit device (just brought up the device menu
and did nothing else but hit the power button and was able to shut it
off with the front panel.)

I
tried resetting it with the front reset button but that doesn't work.
I tried holding menu for more than 8 seconds in case the front button
lock was somehow enabled.

I'm wondering if this is a software problem with the memory card.

I was told there's a way to check error codes but I can't seem to find how to do that in the manual.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Joe

It is probably not a software

It is probably not a software problem.
The WS-B55 is very similar (screen differences I think) to the ws-55511, with the same V21 chassis.

You can leave your email address and code results, and request Larry to send you a detailed set of repair instructions for someone with electronics repair experience.

You can google mitsubishi ws-55511 owners manual to find the owners manual.

You can download the V21 service manual on this site, here:

The service manual has led diagnostic info.

Thanks.

Thanks.

My email address is [email protected]. I appreciate your help.

The code is 12 which is apparently normal operation. Just another symptom though. I only got the error code to work once just now. I have not been able to do it again since that 1 time.

Hi. If anyone has any ideas,

Hi. If anyone has any ideas, I'm still stuck on this. Mitsubishi told me to call an authorized service technician because Im out from under warranty. I can't believe after only 5 years and $2500 with tax, I have a TV whose volume I can't even control.

Alnp, should I have left my email address somewhere outside of this thread for Larry to see? I'm hoping to try to fix this on my own if possible without having to spend hundreds of dollars. Any help is appreciated.

FYI, I've gotten the volume to move. After some advice from another site, I think there is some dust behind the buttons and they are stuck in position. Im trying to get the front panel off right now to see. Just blowing air into the sides of the buttons has given me a reaction.

That is good to know, maybe a few of the switches were stuck on or off and "overriding" the remote? I would check the solder joints on the back of the front panel while you have it off.

Yeah, they were all fine. The

Yeah, they were all fine. The circuitboard didn't seem to have any problems.
