Sony KP-51ws510

I purchased this tv in 2004, it just quit working I am also getting 6 blinks.  I had a tech come out and tell me the transformer is bad, he charged me 125.00 to come out and diagnose the problem.  I was looking around and the part is only 70.00 is this something i can do myself.  What all is involved or can anyone email me the manual to replace this part.  I have a tester and would also like to know based on the other post should I also replace the HVB as well.

I would call PTS 1-800-844

I would call PTS 1-800-844-7871 or vancebaldwin 1-800-432-8542 or tritronics 1-800-365-8030 and for just a few more $ You can get a Complete Rebuilt D Board Part number is A1302180A

PS: you will need Q8043 ($28.11) to with that transformer so you have $70 + $28 +$8-10 shipping cost Best to get a rebuilt board from PTS or send them your board to have them rebuild it for you

I have a friend who upgrades

I have a friend who upgrades telecommunications equipment and he has the tester and said he can test the board for me. I know basically from what the tech said what needs to be replaced however not exactly sure where it is I know what board it is on so my friend said he could find it. If you think I can just purchase a new board and take out the old one and replace I would prefer to do that sounds like less workl, let me know what you think. Thank you in advance.

I called PTS and they said 74.50 to rebuild the board. I just wanted to make sure that is correct as you said it would cost a little more.

Befoe I extract the board are

Befoe I extract the board are there any components that I need to be aware of that I should not touch while removing the board, ie names of other boards. I have printed out the diagrams from the manual and it seems pretty easy its only 3 screws on the board itself, I just don't want to damage anything else while I'm in their.

I just wanted to thank

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me with my repair.  While I am not usually very mechanically inclined I decided to try this repair anyway.  I did ship the board to PTS and they rebuilt it for about 86.00, I installed it and the T.V. works great.  I saved about 300.00, again just wanted to say thank you and I have recommended several people to this website.
