We have a 32 in. RCA bought back in 2003. here within the past 2 weeks it's started acting funny and the past couple days won't display a picture. It started out, there was a line going across the screen about 3 inches down. We took the back off and dusted and it seemed to work again, by the end of the night however it was back to same thing and now when I turn it on there is sound but no picture. I've got 2 lines of blue, 2 lines of red and 2 lines of green. What could this be? Is this something that can be fixed or is she a goner? Also what can cause this so as to avoid anything we might be doing wrong in the future.
O.k. update on my post earlier, now I've got some sort of picture, but it's a bunch of lines in the top part and it's like over lapping the picture in the middle and the bottom half is fine except for the 3 inch black gap. Am i making any sense or is my TV trying to put me in a looney ben...lol
another update, i've been reading other posts trying to get an idea. i went back and unplugged the tv from the wall and let it set for a few minutes. when i plugged it back in and turned it on, the picture was better, still had the black gap at the bottom. the picture was jumpy so i can tell it'll do it again. any advise out there for me
Give it the old whack test...meaning hit the side of it pretty hard with your palm. Let me know if the image returns.
unplugged it again, this time for longer and got all of the picture back. everything is fine, but i know it will do it again. what does unplugging it do to make it work again. is over heating, maybe need a new fuse?
I'd guess a loose or cold solder connection somewhere. If the problem persists, you may need a technician to find the problem.
