I have a RCA DRC8000N dvd recorder and am getting the error message "cannot read disc". The player was working before and I had no problems with any type of media. Any ideas what the problem may be?
It will not play either a commercial or a recordable and both of the discs worked before. I also took the cover off to make sure that the disc was spinning, but could not tell because it is sealed. It sound like the disc tries to spin 3 times but I cannot say for sure.
No, I just tried a number of cds and none of them will work. To elaborate a little more about the problem, I can watch tv and get the full menu with the dvd player, but no matter what type of media disc I put in I get the same "disc error". The machine says that it is reading the disc and I can here it start spinning then I get the error message.
If it won't read CDs either, you should read number 4 and 5 of this article, as they're the most likely problems: http://www.techlore.com/article/10478/
Is it a commercial DVD or a recordable disc? Did this particular disc play in the player before?
