Sony screen blank/no sound and light blinking 4 times

My Sony projection big screen KP-61HS10 has quit working.  When power is turned on, TV clicks like it is powering up like normal, then clicks again and powers down with the red light blinking 4 times.  TV has been working great for last 7 years, except for the last 6 months the TV has had a poor picture (green blue and red not aligned) for the first 10 minutes.  After fully warmed up, the picture is perfectly aligned and clear.

Are these two problems related?  What components could have failed?  Can these components be replaced easily by some guy with some experience with circuit boards (took circuits class in college complete with 2-week circuits lab)?  Does anybody know the approximate costs to fix?

I don't mind the poor picture during the warm up period so much, if it is not a precursor to a major component failure (like a $200 lamp about to burn out).

Any help is greatly appreciated.  I think I want to try to self fix prior to paying a service tech $100 just to come out and tell me that I need $700 in repairs.

The four blinks in this TV

The four blinks in this TV set is a clue that there is a fault in the vertical deflection circuit. Could be the vertical sweep/output IC is bad or could have bad connections on it. There could be a bad capacitor in the sweep power supply that gives the vertical the voltage to run on. I would for sure check the voltages on the vertical output IC first. Good luck, Oh By the way, if you need a service manual, leave an e-mail address and I will forward you a copy.

Thanks Larry,

Thanks Larry,
I would like the service manual.

On it's way man. Good luck

On it's way man. Good luck with the repair.

on the d board check r5029

on the d board check r5029 for open replace with a 0.47 ohm fusable resistor 1/4 watt if blowen, if you want to just shotgun it usaly if you replace both c5025 and ic5004
ic5004 pn = 8-759-192-71

I checked R5029 and got 0.5

I checked R5029 and got 0.5 ohms.  I need a little guidance on diagnosing the IC5004.  Here is an excerpt from the service manual's schematic of D board.  Ive checked the pin #7 at the A board junction and got 5V when powering up the T.V.  When the TV goes into "safe mode" with blinking light, the #7 pin voltage drops to 0.7
When looking at the schematic, what are the pink arrowheads with numbers.  Is that the voltage I should be getting at that point?
