What actualy happens to make digital cameras sensitivety to light change when you adjust the ISO setting? Is this change done electronicly on the CCD or is it a change done in processing the of the image file?
From the way it's been explained to me, increasing the ISO speed on amplifies the electrical signal from the CCD or CMOS when the charge is being measured by the ADC. This, in turn, makes the sensor more sensitive to light, but adds additional noise.
