rear projection tv half screen

rear projection tv half screen

hi i hope some one can help. when i switch the tv on sometimes it only has half the screen showing the other half if black. anyone got any ideas??

Check first and make sure

Check first and make sure your Closed Caption is not turned on,  If  that is turned off. You have an intermittant problem in the vertical driver circuit.  It could be as simple as a bad solder connection on the vertical output IC or one of the shaping capacitors could be going bad.  Also could be the vertical output IC is going bad.  I f you have no soldering experience, or Printed circuit board repair experience, and last but not least,  have the proper tools to work on solid state printed circuit boards, then I highly advise you to seek out a trained tech to assist you to sort out the problems with this set.  Good luck, and if you get it fixed or not , please report back to us, as maybe your experience with the set will help out someone else.

I have the same problem on a Toshiba 50H12 I have the service manual but i can't locate the Vertical output IC. what should I be looking for?
