In the HDMI vs. component debate, plenty of people have strong opinions on the subject, but the vast majority of respondents to a CE Pro blast prefer component video over HDMI.
Interesting read. With my old TV—which had a DVI port—some HDMI devices would work with it, while others would not:
Toshiba HD DVD player: would not work
Sony BDP-S300 BD player: worked
Sony PS3: would not work
Of course, my new Sony TV supports all of those.
I have read posts on other forums where people asked if they should "upgrade" from their original Xbox 360 to one that has HDMI. If your TV does not support 1080p over component, then the answer is "maybe." If your TV does support 1080p over component, it would be a total waste of money to "upgrade."
