Samsung hcp4752w: have to unplug/plug in to get it to turn on

Brief History:

I had some convergence issues with this television when i got it, but it was given to me with me knowing it needed the repair done. I purchased a service manual and had a Sears repair man do the actual tinkering in the settings, (knock on wood) I have had no issues with that.

Issue now:

There are times that i turn off the television (or my 15 month old does) and when i try to turn it back on the red light (power indicator light) flashes and then goes solid (sometimes disappears) and the televisions picture will not come on. I usually unplug it ( i now have it on its own power strip so i can just hit the off button on the strip) This usually resets the problem and I can turn the television on. This does not happen often, but occasionally. I have also noted that if the power button on the front o of the tv is used to power it on/off then i will encounter this problem more often. I was thinking maybe a board was going bad, or it was bad power adapter or something on those lines. Can anyone help me on this... if you need more info just ask...

Oh one thing i have done is tape a piece of soild clear plastic over the power button on the front of the television, this prevents little fingers from turning it off and on, i have also done something similar for the side buttons.
