I've got a Samsung HCN4727W that started having convergence issues out of blue. No warning or anything. I tried the perfect focus but it only goes to 4% and stops. After reading some posts on here, I ordered the service manual and went in to try and set the convergence myself. I can set the red and green, but the blue won't move at all. Any ideas? Does it sound like I need to replace the complete convergence board? Am I correct that the part number is BP95-00142p? Is there a difference if I order the part from samsungparts.com or partstore.com? Thanks in advance for any advice.
BTW, I got the service manual electronically as a PDF and will make it available if anyone else needs it.
This service manual is available here as a free download at techlore's Technicians corner under the resources tab on the home page. The first mistake you made was going into the menu and trying to adjust a problem out of the set. These adjustments are for small drifts in the convergence, not for major changes. Just hope you did not go too far out of alignment when you did this as if you did, you will have one heck of a time adjusting this thing once the problem is repaired. Also one tip is, any adjustment you do make on the set, write down the original value or number that the set is one so you have a place to go back to in the event you run into a problem. that part number is the right one for the board BUT it is back ordered. They say for at least 4 weeks. If you can solder, replace the STK IC's on the board with good quality replacements. Good Luck
Thanks Larry. I did keep track of all the changes I made so hopefully I won't be in any trouble there. I haven't soldered anything since electronics class in high school many years ago. Is there any difference between the board that's backordered at samsungparts.com or the one available from partstore.com?
As long as it is the same part number, NO, you can use it. You could also contact ptscorp.com and call them to see how much they would charge you to rebuild your board.
