My Toshiba 42H82 is about 5 years old. All of a sudden, the red color of the picture has become split from the main picture, like a shadow or duplicate image (but just red). When I try the "touch focus" function, I get an error. During the touch focus, the blue and green lines would align, but the red lines were all bent. Before I have a technician come to check it out and I have to pay him trip and diagnos.
Thanks.
You have the typical convergence problem that happens on almost if not all tube type projection TV sets. There are two IC's soldered into the printed circuit board that needs to be replaced. After the IC's get replaced there maybe some alighnment need to the convergence via the On screen service menu. This repair should cost you about 250 to 400 bucks. good Luck and let us know if you get this set repaired and what was wrong with it.
Zannos,
I have the same problem, but with the green gun in the mid-left section of the screen. What was your outcome? Did you fix it or through in the towel?
