From what I have read, A LOT of these Tv's ar having the same problems. And I don't want to repeat anything, this is my question...
If my tv starts "blueing out" (where the screen begins to flash blue, and then eventually turns off) is this a problem with the Blue CRT? or can it be a combination of things? and are these parts available?
First try turning down just a bit the blue screen control.
I have a Sony KP-57HW40. I recently turned it on and the picture is green. I don't know how to repair it, but I know that there is no red color even when I adjust the hue. Do you have any suggestions?
well you are wide open, you need to narrow it down a little, take the back off, turn on the tv, tune to a black and white picture, look at the tubes, and see which ones are lighting up. On a b/w picture all three tubes should be at the same intensity.
On the bottom front corners of the TV you will see a small cap, pop that cap out with care and you will see a screw. Unscrew those, slightly pull the bottom out then up and down and the front cover will come off. Do this with care, there are wires attached to the front controls on that panel. You will see those wires held in place with wire ties, release the wires and move the front panel enough for you to have some working room. You will then see a black panel held with four screws in the bottom center. Remove that panel, you will see a small box (don't know what it's called) but it has six screws. The bottom three screws is where you adjust the convergence and voltage. The screws are from left to right blue, green and red. Slowly adjust the blue, if you adjust too much you will still have voltage and or convergence problems. See if this resolves your issue.
oops, just realized your post is a year old, hopefully you've repaired it by now.
We are SO glad you left this discussion up! We have a KP57HW40 but the screen would turn completely red. With your information we have fixed it! Woohoo free t.v. for us!
