not really, what i do is pull off the front panel, and watch the crt's and you will see a blue arch, pay attn to which crt is causing the blue arch. The hv is leaking. You can try to put silicone around the tube. but i have had little success with this technique. If you try silicone. make sure you let it dry a good 48 hours before trying to use the set again.
Hey Bio, How do you like this tv. Am I getting a good deal on the one I'm buying. Like I said in my previous post, it's $500 and is onle 3 years old. Can you tell me the good and the bad of it?
sorry man, i thought you wanted to buy mine. $500 is an awesome deal. it's a bit thick compared to the newer LCD & DLP projection TVs. I love the split screen with built in pip (don't need 2 inputs anymore) you can keep 1 channel on & surf on the other until your show is back on.
The only thing bad is it doesn't have an HDMI port only a DVI, but you can get an adapter. it has a **** load of inputs. (RCA, Composite, DVI)
I guess you will have to get a HDTV digital receiver - to get HD over the air waves. I dont have any HD channels. I'm too cheap. But I can still watch DVDs & play games in HD.
How is the picture on the regular channels look? Also, do you know how it looks next to the grand wegas? I really wanted a 60" grand wega, but it sounds like I can't pas up this deal.
the regular analog channels look good, there is some upconversion stuff built in to make it look a little better. I have no idea how it looks compared to the sony wegas. I'm sure $500 is a lot cheaper then those LCD projection TVs.
I need a copy of service manual for Sony KP-57WS510 TV. After 4 years of usage, it developed color convergence problem. Please email me the service manual to [email protected] please.
your problem is the convergence ICs P/N STK392-560 from the manual, I used the part #'s from the ICs themselves, MAT electronics has them & others. You can't miss them there the big ICs on the D board. It's just a pain to get the board out. Becareful with the high voltage lines (not to break them off inside) they disconnect from way in the front of the TV not from the transformer on the board.
Hey Bio,
I'm looking at buying this model used. How is it. I'd be paying $500 for a 3 year old one. What do I have to get to get HD over the air waves?
poping and flashing, is usaly a bad crt, it is arching to ground making the poping noise.
no i'm not selling it. I paid over 2 grand for it.
would i be able to unplug each CRT by itself & see if it stops?
It hasn't done it in a couple of days now. But it'll be back.
