We came back from vacation and after turning on tv, it is stuck changing channels, none of the front panel controls work and the timer light stays on. We have to unplug tv to turn it off. What possibly happened? Can it be fixed?

One of the front control buttons may have become leaky or gone bad and shorted or possibly you could have received a power surge while you were gone and damaged the microprocessor control circuit. If unplugging the set overnight did not reset the TV, I'm afraid that there is nothing more you could do with the set besides having a pro take a look at it. Good Luck
It could also be the windex effect, if you clean your screen and squirt the glass cleaner on the screen, it can drip down, the screen, then inside the set onto the button pad. Very common problem.
always spray your rag with the cleaner not the screen.
Oh yes very common problem. I had this twice last month!
