my tv has started to act funny.when i turn it on it takes five minutes for picture to come on.when it comes on the picture starts flashing when you get bright pic then goes off for five mins but sound keeps working.if i turn contrast down then pic stays on any help would be apreiciated thanks
Sounds like akb, the tv can't get the white to balance, eventually it may shutdown with 5 blinks indicating an akb error. You may have a bad crt. You can also be having other issues, but if it is an older set that was used allot chances are the one of the crts' have failed.
thans is it easy to fix or does it need expert
model no kp-41s4u if this is any use
A big help would be to know what color it flashes when it goes off, that is the likely crt causing the problem. This problem is an advanced one, you need a good diagnosis to make sure you get the correct reason, i stated the beginning of the troubleshoot, but the result could be one of three crts being bad, a video driver bad, or something else. This can Be an expensive repair. I am not sure that i can help to trouble shoot this properly over the boards. Some of the diagnostics i use would be a little dangerous to try for a novice. Like tapping on the neck of a crt, ect... I would probably let a pro get a final diagnostic on this one.
thanks for advise.if its anygood it flashs white then goes off for 5 mins if i put it onto channel 0 which has no input signal it comes back on in about 2 mins thanks
thanks for answer but what is an akb problem and is it easy or costly to repair and could i fix it myself
It can be costly, and the repair can be difficult. I would not recommend it if you have never worked in a tv before. I have tried to talk people through this before and i am not sure of the outcome. It is hard sitting behind a keyboard giving instructions on this repair.
What color does it flash when it shuts down ? -- important question.
it just goes blank when theres a bright scene on tv or sat
Yes, that is an indicator of this problem.
You might be able to reset the tubes, got to jump E to K1 while turning screen pots.Careful NOT to hit the 9 volt line.
