Hello all-
First time poster here. I have the sorry Samsung set mentioned frequently in these forums. Mine lasted about 16 months, then died.
When you plug it in, The red power light comes on, but no picture. There is a steady high pitched beeping, and a clicking sound. This keeps happening until I unplug it.
I would love a service manual (if it would help me) unless someone here can direct me to what my problem actually is.
Thank you.
Can anyone out there help me with this?
Your problem could be the convergence IC's, the power supply regulator, or the high voltage transformer. Most likely though the convergence board that has the large STK convergence IC's on them is bad. A good way to check this would be to open the set, find the convergence ICs, unplug the power sires to the convergence board and pull off the plug. Plug in the set and see if the set will start up. If it does, that's where your problem is. If the set does the same thing, further troubleshooting of the sweep and main power supplies will be needed. Good Luck
Can you give me more details on the convergence card? There are several on the board, but only a few with cables plugged into them.
Is the convergence board a plug in card, or is it the large board in the bottom of the case? Can you be more specific about the power sires, and the plug which needs unplugged?
I am not familiar with TV terminology.
thanks again,
Jakkwb
OK, upon closer examination I found the STK chips - the whole convergence board is pretty large. Which cables are the power sires to unplug, and then when you say "pull the plug" are you talking about the power sires themselves, or a different plug?
Learning as I go. Thanks so much,
Jakkwb
The plug you need to pull is labeled CN 803 on the convergence board.
ok, I pulled that connector (that one only). When I power it up, it clicks 2x. Nothing else happens as far as it starting up. Screen still black, no audio. It did stop making the high pitch beeps, though.
thank you for your help thus far,
jakkwb
I would change the convergence IC's and check all of the circuit protectors. They are the fuses that supply the power supply voltages to the board.
I'm not that good soldering. I will probably replace the whole convergence board. Are the circuit protectors you mention checking on the convergence board, or on the adjacent one?
