I have a 53" Toshiba TheaterView HD SRS. Model # is 53H71 and I was wondering if there is any risk of burning the picture/screen or if there is any danger in palying the PS2 on it? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone know how I might find a remote for it.
If you leave a background or an image on the screen without it changing or without the scene moving, yes there is the possibility of CRT burn-in. I have seen it myself. If you are simply playing a game and there are no bright areas that stay in the same location on the screen, no you will not harm the TV set. Some people debate this. I have played many a video games on projection TV sets and have not had any problems. i have also seen a few games where the score box is white or a bright color and cause a small burn in at that spot only. You can get an original factory replacement for this TV set HERE
Larry,
I appreciate your help. Also thanks on the remote control. I will be purchasing one shortly. We mainly play NCAA Basketball, Madden, soccer, Nascar, Guitar Hero to name a few. This is in response to the fact of the non moving parts ie.. score board and such unlike other games where the background is constantly moving or non-moving bright areas as you explained. Please elaborate on this or explain if it's different to what I mentioned about the scoreboard. Let me know if my concern is valid or paranoya. Also the concern of placing the game on pause if this is not recommended as I would think. Is it ok to place it on pause for a minute or so as long it's not for an extended period of time.
Thanks again.
It is fine to pause the game, I mean the screen will not burn an image into the picture tubes immediately, but I would be a little concerned on the scoreboard, IF you play for a long period of time.
Thank you Larry! As you can imagine playing on a 53" is much more fun than playing on a 17".
Yes it is, but there is always a chance over time, something could burn in slightly into the picture tubes.
