Oh my..I hope that larry can help me out too. I have a WS65689, and it blinks, resets, etc.. when I turn it on. And if I want to switch inputs, well..it does it all over again, until I hit the main reset, and that is no guarentee when I do that. I had it repaired once, for $650.00, and in less than a year, it is doing it again. they replaced the microprocessor, so they say. Called Mitzu and faxed recepits, etc.. and well.. it aint looking pretty. I have close to $4500 into this set, and well if Larry could email a fix, that would be awsome. You can email me at [email protected], THANKS LARRY..even if its not successsful , thanks in advance from the common folks ! And if it really works I would be more than happy to send you a "thank you" in the form of shall we say..some greenbacks? I guess I need a service manuel or instructions etc.. hope its not too complicated.
Please respond to this feedback as I moved your thread to another thread with the proper model number. When folks cross post to different model numbers, It confuses thing.
Sorry Larry.. I was not aware of the other post. Where do I find that post? And can yuo email me any how to fix info, [email protected]. Thanks,
Nfocus, They are on their way. Good Luck with the repair.
got them..but.... my capacitors look fine, no buldges, and I opted to call a tech to come look at it. I am hoping mitsu will work with me on the bill as this is the 2nd time this prob. has occured in 2 yrs, and the last repair guy charged $650 and it stopped working about 3 months ago, now I got the same problem. He said he replaced the micro processor?
So we shall see what the tech say on Wed., hope that the bill wont be $$$. heck..I pad $4000 for the set in 02, with $650 repair in 06, so its getting to be an expensive set.
The capacitors could still be bad. I would have them replaced before the tech gets there. They do not have to be bulging at the tops to be bad.
ok..will take another look. They are coming at a fee of $35.00 to give me estimate. My set needs seven but your instructions says..remove all four..is that for sets that only have four, and if you have seven, then replace all seven?Again, my set sometimes can get going, after a rest. But when I go to change an input, saw from sat. to dvd..it can go out again, restarts itself over and over.
So go ahead and replace caps huh? Anything else I need to look for?
Nope, nothing else, replace all seven of them first. Some models have four, some sets have seven. You may be surprised man. I have seen this model you have with the seven capactors have this problem many times.
well.. I have 24 hrs. before they come here, so another trip to Radio Shack to get better solder tip , one more capacitor, and we shall see if this works. Anythign else I should look at? Why does the set sometimes work? if the capacitors are bad, then should it not ever come on?
The reason it still works sometimes is because there is still some capacitance in them, but sometimes there is more then at other times. If you take out the capacitors and you see a brown goo coming out of the bottom of the caps, clean this up right away with alcohol or this will eat away at the copper on the printed circuit board.
replaced em, no goo.. and still not working. oh well.. at least I got somenthing in it new for less than $10.00. Now its time for the tech to give me a estimate, then contact mitsu and see what they say. thx anyways, it was fun working on it.
Well that is a shame. I always say, if you do not at least try, you would never have known if you could have repaired the TV or not. Please let us know what you finbd out.
Tech called..mitzu says 2 boards need to be replaced, at a cost of $700. My tech said that didnt sound right, and is checkign for a cracked board, which they said they can possibly repair, at a great savings. They try to fix it first before replacing parts. It worked off and on for them at various times while looking at it, so who knows !
Well.I am back, and with some semi good news. The repair shop after having the set since Dec. 19th did not fix it. They came up empty on the problem, and Mitsu could not help them either. Its a mystery that seems to want to replace 2 circuit boards with no promise that is the fix. The est. cost for this, $800.00. I said..PASS on that. The set cost $4000, then the 1st repair was $650, and if I did the 2nd repair, it owuld make that tv valued at $6,000. HAHAH.. we all know it isnt worth that much.
So..I called Mitsu, asked them if they wanna try to help me out and keep a customer, and they may, I reapt, MAY give me some $$$ towards a new set, scrap my old, and go from there. Now..my question is.. what or how do they come up with a price for my old set? Anyone know?
They said they would give me blue book value.
