I've read previous threads and found that my sony KB 57wv600 is giving 7 blinks after shut down. Can you help me diagnose what those 7 blinks mean? Do I need to plug the t.v. into a new power source? Is there something internal that needs to be replaced as a result of high voltage? Thank you

According to the article "Sony TV Blinking Codes & What It Means When the Standby/Timer Light Flashes:
Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
When you say check high voltage, is that incoming or on the tv? What is the solution?
Seven Blinks--High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits,

There are two components that you should check in the power sup. are T8005,and Cap 6532.This is not a repair that can be done by a novice,. Good luck and tell us how you made out on this set.
my sony tv kp 65ws500.serial # 9704215 also has a stand by blinking code of seven .how do i rectify with over the counter tools that my t 8005 and cap 6532 are at fault what should i look for?

Tony, you will need a good multimeter and a service manual and know how to read a schematic diagram. The blink codes are not always right. They simply tell a tech what circuit the problem is in. Sometimes that is even misleading. A power supply problem has cause the high voltage to shut down. This is not a repair for the novice or handyperson I'm afraid. This set will take some troubleshooting. Good Luck
larry thanks for the early response....my tv was given to me by a friend .He said that when he awoke the tv was non responsive.so instead of servicing it he would have rather gone out and buy a new one.He is well off to say the least so his intentions of resolving his problem was the furthest thing from his mind ,so this is how i wound up with this tv and a blinking seven code. I do hear in the rear of the tv when turning it on ,two clicks like a sort of relay tripping itself, thats when i thought i could tackle the job myself? Any further advice is greatly appreciated. Thank You tony perez
Larry, I checked with a tech they said to me that the problem with my tv will most likely be a bad powersupply.could this be possible ? I;have read many articles in the past several days and thay do not speak about replacing the power supply ,they reflect on t8005 or cap 6532and also possible horizontal circuits.........33kexceeded level will automatically send the unit in automatic high voltage shutdown mode. This is the mode in which i stand "7 Blinks". With the horror srories I hear of dishonest repair techs I was wondering if I appear to be a candidate for a fradulent rep estimate.
Tony, there are two ways to fix sony's you can replace a panel in this case "D" board, or you can fix "D" board. Sony prefers you to swap boards. If it is in warranty i will always swap boards because it is faster. If it is out of warranty, i troubleshoot the boards whenever possible. Some of the boards are very difficult to troubleshoot, but "D" board is not that tough. He is not shafting you, it is probity that that shop prefers to swap boards. it is more expensive, not that the shop makes any more money, but it is less trouble for the shop.
Tony, There are allot of reasons that you get a 7 blink, there is no magic bullet for this error, "D" board is the most likely coulprit. I had one in our shop a week ago with the same problem, but i had to preform some diagnostics to determine the cause. The tv may blink 7 or 6 times with this problem.
1. Can you hear the high-voltage come up for a second. (sounds like static electricity)
2. Has it ever shut down with 6 blinks (if so it could be the 5 volt line)
3. If you want to cover your bases replace T8005, ic8002,q8014,q8013. but that is still a shot in the dark.
my tv just started acting up, and the symptoms are described perfectly in this discussion. three days ago it shutdown and the standby light displyed 6 blinks. then yesterday i turned it on and it worked fine. today it shutdown and the standby light displays 7 blinks. from what i am reading this is a high voltage problem.
i do hear the high voltage come up for a second. if it is the 5 volt line, what would it take to repair this myself, and if not, what would be a fair service charge appraisal.
the tv is a sony tinitron wega kv-32hs420
I have a Sony KV43HS420 the red light by Stand By Timer blinks 7 times. The TV will go on for about 5 seconds, but only with sound-NO picture. Then it will just shut off. Hours before this happened I was having trouble changeing cable stations, no matter what number I punched in the cable station would go to a music selection. I turned the TV off and when I came back I had this problem with the 7 bllinks and a non-working tv. Is there a relation between the cable problemand my tv going out? I read that 7 blinks means
the blinking light is not a good way to trouble shhot this tv set it is for a general area of trouble as the tech still needs to go in and troubleshoot the set, now on your problem. is there any difference in the pic from what it used to be before the set shuts down?

so, I am wondering does anyone know what the "D Board" looks like? or where it is located. I opened up the Tv and there are a lot of boards in there. I wanted to swap it myself and save the $300 the repair man wants to do the swap. my TV is a kp46wt520
do you have a 3 d looking picture????
Larry
not sure what you mean... I guess I could have mentioned what exactly my problem is.
When I turn on the T.V. the Audio comes through the speakers then a few seconds later (without ever displaying a picture) the TV shuts off and blinks 10 times. (used to be able to just turn it back on and it'd work fine... got to where you had to do it 4, 6, 10 times...no no matter how many it doesnt work). I paid a repair guy to come test it and he says the "D BOARD" needs to be replaced. I opened it up and looked but there are so many boards I dont know which one is the D'board.
My goal is to get the D'board out of the TV take it to a repair shop and see if it can be repaired, or replaced and put it back myself. But, I cant find any information on what board is the D'board.
