LG 42PC3DV started with a black edge to the right and grew across the screen till completely black. Still get sound. Do you know if this is the display or could something else be causing the problem?
you cannot get a positive diagnosis with your discription, can it be the display -- yes, but the driver board could be at fault as well, as well as other boards that help control the screen. I don't think you will get one answer here. Some troublshooting will be needed.
Thank you for the feedback. I had talked with the techline at LG and they were not helpful at all. They referenced a website that turned out to be for business management. Anyway, before that referral, the tech did tell me something about the v-bias board which is also the main power supply and a 100 ohm resistor. I checked all the components on that board and none seemed to be defective, open or shorted. I do lean towards the problem being either a cap or resistor simply from the way it went out, but your right there are too many other controlling factors. I will need lots of help on this one.

If your Vs voltage checks OK I would start by replacing both the X and Y sustain boards.
