resetting a cordless phone after power outage

Hello out there - I feel silly asking about something so neanderthal - a cordless phone!

Had a power outage and it's blinking "E3" . Can't do a thing with it. Panasonic KXTG2248. It's probably ridiculously easy......Does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, you've hit

Unfortunately, you've hit upon an error that has plagued many consumers according to my research. I haven't been able to find an explanation as to what the problem is, but I can assure you that there is no consumer fix for it. The manual for your phone doesn't even mention this error code.

You'll need to contact Panasonic for repair or replacement if it's still under warranty. Please post back with what they tell you to help others that may follow in your footsteps.

I had this same problem after

I had this same problem after a brown-out in my neighborhood. I contacted Panasonic's customer service. After 10 minutes on hold, I got through to someone who acknowledged the problem. Even though my phone is past it's one-year warranty, they are sending me a letter authorizing me to return it for a free replacement. My only cost will be for shipping.

When I asked why they are doing this, he said that there is a known problem with some phones of that model, and they are taking responsibility by replacing them.

That's great news. It's good

That's great news. It's good to hear stories about manufacturers taking care of their customers and taking responsibility for problems with their products. Good for you, Panasonic!

7/10/06  Just a note:  I came

7/10/06  Just a note:  I came to work this morning and saw the same problem, thanks for listing it here, since nothing about it was posted at Panasonic.

I called the Customer Service line, and was told that this program was discontinued, and that any replacement or repair was subject to up to $80 plus shipping.  I told her that I was a loyal customer of Panasonic, and that this was a known issue/defect and should be repaired or replaced at their expense.  She said they would look into it further as a one-time exception and a supervisor will contact me within 2 weeks to determine if I am eligible.

I will post back the results

Well, this is encouraging.  Maybe I'll try giving them a call about mine...Thanks!
