panasonic not turning on

I have a panasonic projection tv and a light on the front comes on and blinks. I am pretty good at electronics just never messed with a tv can anyone help me and figure out why this thing does not come on.

What's the model number man?

What's the model number man? Is it a standard TV set, or maybe a projection TV?

3 flashes is our old frend

3 flashes is our old frend convergence issues, almost all big screen brands have trouble with this.  I am looking at the manual now, i will get the details soon....

Ok great you have a manual!

Ok great you have a manual! Just for your info, almost always the pico fuse or CP will blow in the power supply that feeds the convergence voltage to the IC's

your set uses stk392-110 i

your set uses stk392-110 i usually replace with stk392-150 or stk392-180 these are more stable. if you have no soldering experience or electronic experience.  but if you want the challenge go for it. remember that there can be several thousand volts in this set even when unplugged.

check r7060 and r7066 both

check r7060 and r7066 both .27 ohm at 1 watt one of these might be open along with the bad convergence ic's

ok i did all of this now it all seams fine but it still does not come on and now i get one blink

i think that the stk392-110

i think that the stk392-110  wa srecently replaced but what is the difference between it an the other two and why is the light only blinking once now

zapdbf
1 blink is the 140 volts

1 blink is the 140 volts supplied to the horizontal output. check to make sure all the plugs are in correctly.

zapdbf
the diffrence between the

the diffrence between the orignal and the ones i use, is wattage,  the 150 and 180 can handle more wattage wich will reduse the chance of repeat failure, which you can have.

what plugs exactly are you talking about i take it i am making progress

zapdbf
well any that you took out or

well any that you took out or may have gotten pulled out or not seated correctly. This is a common practice to re-check your work, i can even miss a plug once in a while which may cause the tv to code again after i have fixed it.  Since it is a different code, that is the first thing i would look for before believing you have another problem. you fixed the 3 blink code.

And yes it sounds like you are making progress.

well there is one plug on the left side of the bourd i cant find it was not plugged up when i looked at it every other plug on it is good i have tried putting them in multiple times is there any way to check the horizontal output to see if it is good any other ideas

blueeon
well i tried that and

well i tried that and repluged all of them in again is there any way to test the horizontal output or any other ideas

Let me look at the service

Let me look at the service manual.... give me the plug number and i will check the manual and see if it is used. also we can check for the presence of the 140 off of the collector of the horizontal output transistor. I will get the referance numbers for you.

it goes to bussconn, it is a

it goes to bussconn, it is a buss connector, to connect the micro processor a diagnostic tool at the factory. so it is not used.  You might be able to fix this faster by replaceing d board.

blueeon
what is the d board how much

what is the d board how much is is where can i get it and what else instead of this would fix it like how can i test the horizontal output

zapdbf
What i am having trouble with

What i am having trouble with is that usually replacing the convergence ic's should not have caused the problem you are having.  The error is alluding to another problem on the same board you changed those ic's on. So i can't help to think that there is a solder problem or something like that. the horiz output transistor on this unit is a FET and a dvm will not do a very good job testing this component. My gut feeling keeps telling me to re-check the soldering and connections. because the +140 volts to the horizontal is missing because of a short or an open somewhere. I will look up the path for the 140 for you and post it here tomorrow.
