Hello,
Im new to this forums and in need of help. I have a samsung hcn653w and the picture quality is going bad. the picture seems to have a double shadow effect. In other words i see double the picture. I just downloaded the service manual and dont quite understand as far as troubleshooting. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. BTW I did a search on the forums and only found about 4 threads and none of those have the double shadow problem I have.
Thanks
Hope to hear some suggestions.
I have never worked on this brand projection television before, but you may be having convergence issues, almost every brand of projection television (tube type) use stk392-XXX type of ic. and they are prone to failure across the board. the double shadow you are referring to is probably this effect, what you are seeing is one of the three tubes not lining up correctly, the shadow on a black and white picture will be either red, green, or blue. look in the black portion of the black and white video to see the primary color that is not correct. If you look in the white portion you will just see what it looks like with that color shifted out. There are many posts on this site about this problem with other brands of tv's. And as far as the repair is concerned it is almost identical, you will have to replace the ic's and check for burnt or damaged resistors, and open fuses. Being that it is a brand i never have worked on you might have problems with voltage regulators on the power supply, but usually it will not get that far.
Thanks for the response, I will check it out. I'll get back to you.
