Good Morning, I'm new to the site, but was hoping someone could help me out. My tv worked fine 2 days ago, then yesterday when I went down to turn it on, it clicks like its turning on, then the reg light comes on for about 1/2 second, then shuts off and it clicks again like it shut off. I took off the back and I belive its the power supply board, but not totally sure. Does anyone know for sure if that might be the problem, and if so, is there a someplace I can order that power supply on line. I called about repair, but they want 400 to 600,, and I don't want to put that much back in to tv that is 11 years old. Any info or help would be appreciated, thank you.
The most likely problem is the convergence board, you did not mention a model, so i can only assume it is simular to ones i have seen before, there should be three boards across the back , the one on the far right is the convergence board, there will be a black jumpper type of connector between the middle board and the right board closest to you looking from the back (there are several of these connectors but the only ony you need to worry about is the one closeist to you), flip up that connector from the right board and try to turn your tv on. tell me what happens
(only remove the connector when the tv is unplugged) warning; high voltages exist even when unplugged so if this worries you you may want to call a professional.
MY MODEL NBR IS 50UX15K,.,, I TOOK OFF THE BACK AND WHAT I HAVE IS,, 2 BIG CIRCUIT BOARDS ON THE BOTTOM, LAYING FLAT,,,, ,THEN A RACK WITH 2 BOARDS ON THE BACK LEFT SIDE, THAT SIT ON TOP OF THE CIRCUIT BOARD ON THE LEFT,WHERE YOU ATTACH THE SPEAKERS AND VCR, ETC,ETC, AND THEN 3 SMALL CIRCUIT BOARDS ATTACHED TO THE COLOR TUBES,, ABOUT 1 FOOT OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT,, AND THEN A BOARD ATTACHED TO THE FRONT OF THE UNIT,, HAVING TO DO WITH THE BASS AND THE SPEAKERS...,,,.... I LOOKED FOR ANY BLACK JUMPER TYPE CONNECTOR BUT COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING LIKE THAT.... DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE? ... WHEN YOU HIT THE POWER BUTTON OR USE THE REMOTE,, IT CLICKS LIKE ITS GOING TO COME ON, THEN CLICKS RIGHT OFF, LIKE YOU TURNED IT OFF.... WORKED DAY BEFORE, THEN THIS STARTED.. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED..THANKS.
sorry i don't work on many hitachi's but again the convergence ic's are a prime suspect. But, other prolems can cause your tv to be dead. You need to troubleshoot the television. Do you have any electronic experience ?
not alot, but I have done some sodering, and some electrical work, have a circuit tester ..but its been awhile... i would like to try trouble shooting, any help you can offer is appreciated.. thanks/
well, you will need a dvm minimum. and a service manual, unless someone here has a quick fix for you.
