i have an older GE tv that only has cable connected to it; my problem is that most of the time i turn the tv on, it tunes into channel 23 regardless of the channel it was left on. i checked to see if that channel was maybe programmed, but it wasn't and then i actually deleted the channel so that i couldn't even scroll through that channel. still when i turn it on, it is back on 23. could it be possible that over an extended period of time on this channel that it has burned it into the tunner??

Have you tried reprogramming the channels by autoprogramming it again?
thanks for the response... yes i tried that prior to deleting the channel from the actual programming. i just can't figure why it continues to turn on to channel 23. again, the only thing i can think of is that maybe it sat on that channel for an excessive amount of time?? your thoughts?
This problem really depends on how old this TV is ans what chassis number it uses. These sets were known for bad grounds around the tuner, and this would cause all sorts of intermittent problem including eeprom problems. Thats where the memory is stored in these TV sets, in the eeprom. You may have a bad tuner also if this chassis does not have an on board tuner. My buck though, goes towards an eeprom or bad grounds.
