How to fix a 10-15 yr old RCA color TV

A series of horizontal, thin, white lines (they are about one inch apart from each other) appear intermittently on my tv (sometimes they appear when the tv is powered on, or they will appear when changing channels).  They can appear for a few seconds or they may stay longer (minutes, even hours).  Also, sometimes the screen appears to have a film on it with the picture still visible behind it.  The sound quality is fine.  Is this something that can easily be fixed or should I consider looking for a new tv?

Look for the capacitor on the

Look for the capacitor on the secondary side of the flyback, that supplies the screen voltage to the CRT board.  If you do not understand what I am saying, or have no experience in solid state repairs, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you.  But this set will most likely cost you almost as much to repair  as a new set would be.  Good Luck, and let us know if you had the set repaired.
