I am an unlucky Toshiba owner that also happens to have the "zigzag" issue that is remedied by replacing the scan converter/hyperboard. I noticed in the Toshiba Model 4283 thread that you had mentioned that you fix those boards...that would be ABSOFREAKINLUTELY amazing. That part or its' equivalent is still available anywhere. I am in the difficult position of needing to get this fixed or my wife will kill me...no joke, she has already shown me the funeral arrangements. I read with MUCH interest in the fact that the problem is the 10uf @ 16v surface mount electrolytic capacitors. While I have people on staff that do this kind of thing all the time (laptops), I would just rather send it to someone who has actually done this job before and has/or can get the approriate parts.
I can desolder the module, that should not be a problem.
Thanks,
Dan
Sorry, I quit doing work on the side years ago.
Any qualified service shop can do the repair. Just note, if you pull the board yourself and take it to a shop they may not want to get invovled or at the very least, will offer you NO warranty what-so-ever.
This module can be rebuilt or exchanged at ptscorp.com. imply go to their web page, get their telephone number and call them to see what you need to do. Also look up TriState module, they also rebuild boards and repairs them. You can very easily get those capacitors fro mcmelectronics.com. they are very inexpensive and not hard to do if you have the right touch and the right soldering iron. If you know peeps who work on components on PC boards, you should really go that route. Although be very careful you do not crack the main board when taking the module out. Do not forget to unsolder the metal tab on the shield of the module. I have seen this main board crack and make the TV set trash. Good Luck, and let us know how you make out with this repair.
