I have an A27-S120 Sharp tv. Built in 1993. While I was watching there was quite a loud pop and the picture went almost off. The picture came back, then the same thing occurred again. The picture came back to normal for probably 10-15 seconds. Another pop occurred. The tv went off and will do nothing at all. I am not an electronics expert. Should I try to have tv repaired or purchase new one

In my opinion, on a set like this, it will most likely cost you about 225 bucks or so to repair. These sets are very popular for the high voltage transformer going out on them. It would be a lot less to buy a new set. Good Luck
