Help with Sony KP-65WS510

Hey guys,

I seem to be having trouble with convergence on my TV.  I read a previously posted forum titled "Sony kp-65ws510 Picture problem" and his problem seems just like mine.  I still get a picture but my colors are off, having a ghost like image in red to the left of an image in green and where they overlap, i get normal color.  Since my problem sounded similar, i was hoping the solution would be too.  I don't have alot of money to spend on a repair man so i was hoping i could attempt it myself.  After reading his solution, i thought that maybe the 2 ic link fuses may need replaced since that seemed to fix his.  So i have ordered and received the fuses and i have also purchased the service manual off of the net, but i really don't see where the fuses go to change them.  If someone could help point out where i need to go in my tv i would greatly appreciate it.  Also guys, i do understand that this may not be the solution to my problem.  I don't know alot about TVs, but i know fuses blow all the time.  I would rather try to replace two $5 fuses myself before giving someone else $100 or more to do the same job.

Thanks,

Michael

Michael, first off, I think

Michael, first off, I think it is great that you want to fix your TV set yourself, and i always will encourage those who are willing to try.  These fuses your talking about are circuit protectors, and I have never ever had one blow for no reason, and yes fuses do blow every once in a blue moon, I highly doubt they did in this case. There are two IC's in this set that goes bad, and sometimes they take the circuit protectors out with them. I am, and could just about say with certainty you will blow these $5 fuse too. Before you replace them, send me a copy of the service manual and I will tell you where the ICs are and where the fuses are in this set for the convergence IC's. These parts are located on the D board. You could simply take out the D board and ship it off to ptscorp.com, and they will overhaul your D board for about 150 bucks, If you do not have great soldering ability. If you can solder, without messing up the printed circuit board, the two IC's will run you about 40 bucks or so. Good Luck with this repair, and let us know if you get the set going.
