liteon dvd burner

i bought a liteon smh165h6so4c, which worked good for about six months, after burning about three hundred dvds, it would only burn about 18 percent, and fail, it did not matter what brand of dvds i used, or what burning software i used it still would not burn. I replaced it with a brand new liteon burner, it did the same thing. I had my firmware updated it still did the same thing. I replaced it with a new sony, i have not had any problem since. I don't see how this happened when i replaced it with a brand new liteon dvd burner and it did the same thing. but when i changed brands it corrected the problem.Cadn anyone explain this to me?

thx don

I'd probably consider this to

I'd probably consider this to be more of a PC related question, which is off topic for TechLore. However, before you replaced it, did you notice if the burning speed had significantly dropped... if it took a lot more processor power to burn a disc than it does now?
