Sony Trinitron no video or sound

I have  Sony Trinitron KV-27V40 that shut off and is flashing a 3 blink code.  We raplace a resistor and found a dual transistor Part # MX0541B to be shorted out on one side.

Should I be looking for any other bad parts and are we going in the right direction.

The code information said to check T603 and R672.  T603 is ok but I can not find R672.

what does the transistor you

what does the transistor you replaced do in the set?  What circuit is this transistor in?  How did you know the transistor was bad?

The mx0541b is part of the power supply.  Usually, there is a resistor that is open as well.  This is a protection resistor (1 ohm) that acts like a fuse.  Also, check for small blue disc shaped capacitors located close to the MX part.  These often short causing the MX part to go bad.  Change the Mx, the resistor and the caps and that should fix the problem.  If I get a chance, I'll lookup the actual circuit designations for the parts.

Thanks for the info we did find a bad resistor R606.  I'll look for the bad capacitor before I order parts.

Thanks Dan for the Reminder,

Thanks Dan for the Reminder, I have seen this but I forget if it is not an all the time repair.
