My Panasonic TV is 4 years and 2 months old. That makes it two months "over" the warranty period and a few days ago it decided it wasn't going to come on anymore. It makes a power (click) sound like it's about to come on then it just clicks agin and nothing... It's been a really good TV and I know that if I can just figure out this power issue that it should still have at least a few good years left. I checked for the simple things (fuse, lose connections, etc) but it's beyond me. Any suggestions before I spend hundreds to have someone come to my house and clean out my bank account for me???
Check out the "power supply theory" it might have been blown. And we might be able to change it out like a computer power supply.
Navydent, I have a Panasonic PT-47WX53 HD ready and just encountered a "power problem"
a few days ago also. Hope you have fixed your problem by now. The TV is 3 years old and has worked just super for me.
There may have been a power surge the same day as my problem occured--but it was working
perfect and when I turned it back on---the "red light power indicator" on front panel will just blink on and off (normally on full)---- and no picture whatsoever---just a dark screen as when the set is off.
Just wonder if you found out and hints on the power problem you had, as mine may be similiar.
Thanks, JackJack2 [email protected]
I have given up and decieded to take it to the shop, I heard for $175 they will fix it no matter what the problem is. I spent $1400 buying it , I might as well spent this amount fixing it. After that I might just sale it and get me a flat screen.
Sorry

That's not a bad price to fix this Panasonic TV set. Let us know what they said the problem was. Now for the Flatscreen. When you buy a flatscreen TV set, do not overlook the extended warranty. The flatscreen will probably break down within a few years and will cost you most likely double of what the extended warranty will cost. Flatscreens are really nice, and wish I could afford one, but I think they just do not last long enough. Now without rustling your feathers, I have seen a few peeps with their flatscreens and no trouble for 4 years or so, SO far. But the higher percentage of people I know, have had a breakdown within that time frame. also make sure you purchase a brand that does not sound like a futuristic gadget. Stay with the brands you recognize. Good Luck with your TV repair, and please do not forget to inform us of the repair and what was done.
I have already purchased a flatscreen about two years ago w/4yr warranty, and so far so good. I heard the same thing you heard about the flats but that the LCD Flatscreen lasts a whole lot longer than the Plasma screen. Oh and I will be getting my 47in fix but Its going to be awhile yet, as I will need help loading it into my wife's van as I am disable. But I will keep you inform as to what the problem was when I get it back.
Have a good Day
