Sony KP-53V15 - blinking screen

Okay - I've narrowed it down to light colors (anything in the spectrum from white - light green).  When the majority of the picture has a bright backgroundm the thing starts blinking non-stop until a scene change and the background darkens.  Wecan fix the problem to a certain extent by lowering the brightness on our set or on the video game we are playing --- but this is really cutting into my PS3 time and I need help fast!  :)  Thanks.

You have a picture tube that is going bad.  You maybe able to temporary fix this problem by lowering the G2 control , or whats called the screen control a tiny bit, but one or more of the three the tubes need to be replaced.  Most of the time this type of repair far exceeds the cost of a new set.  Good Luck, and let us know what you decide with this TV.

IF WE TRY REPLACING THE GREEN TUBE SINCE THAT'S PROBABLY THE BAD ONE, WHERE COULD WE GET ONE AND HOW MUCH $ ARE WE TALKING - THIS SET WAS NOT WORKING WHEN WE GOT IT A YEAR AGO FOR $50.00 AND FIXED IT WITH A $19.00 PART ---- SO SPENDING A LITTLE CASH MAY BE OKAY DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH IT IS.....

first off, lets watch out for

first off, lets watch out for the caps. It is not only harder to read, it is considered rude!  Now that said, The part number for the green picture tube is 873663205 .  The cost is 4332.00 plus shipping.  if you replace a new tube in this TV set, you might have a problem getting the grey scale set correctly. And also do you have the equipment to replace this picture tube and align it?  Would it be worth investing in a picture tube at this point?  I have seen Hitachi tube type projection sets, not even on sale, for less the 700 bucks.  They are not HD or anything like that but it sure beats spending that much on an older TV set.

Thank for the response == no rudeness intended with the caps =-  was filling out a work form and needed caps didnt turn off capslock ..   i understand now what you mean by just buying a new set.  thanks.

Is there anything else it could be that we could check first that may be less expensive that we could check first?
