Help! My LCD TV picture and sound are going off and on.

I have a sony Wega LCD projection TV it is almost 2 years old and the picture and sound keep going off and on. I have no warning lights telling me my lamp needs replaced and everyone I call wants me to replace the lamp, what if anything does the lamp have to do with the sound? Have any suggestions ?

First off, what is the model

First off, what is the model number of this TV set you have?  The bulb circuit or the bulb could be the fault of the TV set, but most of the time, there is an indicator that flashes a code so you know somewhat, where the problem is.  Does any lights flash at all on the front of the set?

The TV model is a KDF-E60A20 and there is no flash of any warning lights on the front of the set.

Check if the Sleep timer is
  • Check if the Sleep timer is activated.
  • Check if the Parental Guide prohibits viewing during that time and/or limits amount of viewing time per day.
  • Check the batteries on your remote, low battery power may cause random signals from the remote.

  •          I checked all the items you suggested, all is okay, now finally Iam seeing a flashing light, when  I turn the tv off and back on the power light flashes red 5 times it never did that before today.

That is an idication that you have a problem with the lamp driver board.  It is called a Ballast circuit to power the bulb.
