RCA P60752 - Fix it or leave it?

I was given a 1995 RCA P60752 Home Theatre System that needs repair. If the system is good, figure it may be worth the cost of repair. (?). The system chirps when turned on (see techlore posts that tell me this would be a short in power supply).

My quesitons are: what are teh details/specs for this tv?  I can't find anything on the web describing this system. Given what it is and the age (March 1995), is it worth fixing? Won't be in market for a new one which is why I thought of trying to fix this one.

Being that I don't know anything about these tvs, how would I find/screen a pro to ensure I am getting a good assessment and my money's worth? Is there any type of ballpark cost for what I'd pay to get something like this looked at/diagnosed by a pro?

THANKS!  Appreciate any info you can give!

In the world of televisions,

In the world of televisions, roughly 7 years is about the max age of a TV that I would fix. In your case, that old RCA is nearing its 12 birthday, which in doggie years (same scale as TV years coincidentally) means that television is around 85. It's lived a long and fruitful life, but I would let it go. Unless you can order the parts and repair the TV yourself, and professional repair will well exceed the TVs worth. Larry, dans_repair_service, or MoTvGuy could probably give you a better idea of what that bill might look like, but I can tell you that even newer CRT rear-pro, DLP, or LCD Rear-Pro sets at a comparable size would be a much better investment.

Part of the problem with those older TVs is that analog is out, and digital is in. Today's high definition widescreen TVs are better in every way, and are prepared to take you into the new age of high resolution television, gaming, movies, and more.

I know you mentioned you're not in the market now, but if you have something else to use in the meantime, I'd pocket the repair cash, and save up toward something new.

Best of luck.
