I just hooked it up yesterday and it worked great all day and night then when I went to power everything off last night it would not turn off so I unplugged it. Today when I turn it on it powers on then in about 5 seconds it goes off and the power light just continuously flashes and you can not turn it on nor off while it is doing this and I can not get the remote to work either. Any help or suggestions other than taking it in for service would be greatly appreciated.
Since you don't want to hear about taking it in for service I suggest you get used to looking at a blinking power light.
I really don`t need advice on how to take a unit in for service as I am looking for someone who might know what the problem is so I can try to fix it myself. I doubt if many people come and post on this forum looking for the advice "You need to take it in to a technician and have them fix it for you" as we all know that is an option. Why do you post if you do not have anything to add to the discussion? Are you a service tech on here looking for work? It appears to me you must be as almost every post that I read that you make suggests taking whatever the piece of equipment in to have it repaired. Do you really think that people do not know that is one option they have for whatever the problem might be with their electronics? I would bet that most people are posting on here to see if anyone has experienced the problem before or maybe a technician might at least give them some assistance with what might the problem might be or what they might try or look at to fix the problem.
Sorry, I thought I'd save you some time and money. Electronic technicians troubleshoot equipment using various methods. An LCD TV that goes into shutdown could have anything from a bad power supply board to a main board or even the LCD panel itself bad. Unless you know what you're doing, which you obviously don't since you're on an internet board asking for advice, you're only options are to begin shotgunning the thing with parts. Boards for any LCD are expensive, especially the main board which may be what's wrong with your unit. If you purchase a main board from Panasonic and it doesn't fix the problem you own that board, you can't send it back. Considering that board could easily cost $200 +, that's a pretty expensive guess. If you feel comfortable doing that then go ahead and start by ordering that. If that doesn't fix it then you could try the power supply board though I'm not sure if that would really be the problem. Do the lamps appear to light?
If it's neither of those you've got a bad panel.
Great advice! Shot gunning a repair is expensive. I wish it was as easy as saying, oh this part is bad, on an LCD TV set. Shops who are not authorized and do not have replacement boards, commonly get stuck with boards that are not bad. Unless of course they charge the customer for it. And I do know that happens a lot in this field.
