Is the set an Hitachi as the

Is the set an Hitachi as the thread leader says it is, or is it a Sony TV set, as you mentioned trinitron?  Any who, it sound like you have a problem in the vertical sweep circuit of this TV.  At 10 years old, it might be worth repairing, but my best guess?  You would be better off to buy a new TV set. At 10 years old, who knows for sure how much longer the set will last before another parts or parts go bad?  Good Luck, and let us know what you decided with this set.

Hi Larry after reading the

Hi Larry after reading the manual more i found out it is a 27cx3b hitachi. I always assumed it was a trinitron tube . mabey not ,specs say 650 lines horizontal.  I just rember the sales guy saying it was 10 yrs ago. well today it would not turn on at all just the fine line down the middle after 10 trys I punched it next to the power button and it fired up but only lasted 1 minute and went back to the fine line.    i   ,ve never brought a TV in for repair before if i cost 2 bills or less i would do it. its hard to find a TV with the qauity of pic that I have on this one . lcd and plasma jusy dont cut it for me. I found a few hitachi tubes in the 34-36 inch that had as good or better picture.
