There are several standalone DVD players out there that will play DivX encoded AVI files, just look for the DivX logo on the front of the unit (in fact, it's rumored they're going to be entering the hardware business themselves). You should find a few models out there to choose from. As far as Windows Media Video files... I can do some looking around, but the XBOX 360 is the only DVD capable device that comes to mind. At $299, it's a pretty good deal for a decent DVD player and Media Center Extender.
