Hello I replaced the Hyperboard in my Toshiba 50hdx82 and everything seemed to go as planned. Well when we turned it on I had nothing just a blinking power light. After looking things over I nailed it down to the input board. I loosened it all up plugged in my cables and bam great picture. I could see the time on DirectTV!! Yeah so I thought. Tightened everything down and back to square one nothing but a blinking light. After five times I could tell when I put my plastic input cover back on it would tweak the input board ever so slightly and that's where the problem was occuring. One last screw and it would move the board just enough to make it not work. Well after trying a couple of things I got cocky and was wiggling the board with the power on trying to find the "sweet" spot and heard a speaker pop. Then after that I had no luck getting any picture at all. Question is did I pop the input board or did I really screw up?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
What you should have done is plugged in the old hyper board to see if you got the same problem. this way you would know if the new board you got was a good one or was it defective?. This is a hard call now as you could have shorted the board be moving it and a prt or lead may have shorted up against the shield or something like that. Also look for cracked or broken connections on the hyper board socket, on the main board and also on the Hyper board. Also I have see a cracked ground or landing where the shield flanges come through the board. If you are unable to check the voltages, you will need to call a tech. Good Luck, and keep us informed of your progress with this repair.
I guess I could have unnsoldered the new board, but the picture was so great until I put all the covers on, I'm leaning more towards the input board shorting something out during assembly of the covers.
After getting professional help today we found the convergence fuses blown on the power side of the mb. We will order them and hopefully the short was caused by us wiggling the input board and not something else.
I'll keep you updated.
Thanks
On another note where can I find support for the forum itself. i cannot log in on my main computer where I verified my account? Also this is my 3rd respond to this post and I'm hoping this one takes!!
On your page, go to where it says provide feedback but I will forward this to Matt, the editor here at techlore. I am sure he can assist yo with youe problem.
Hello replaced the fuses and went back to square one. This time I just left the last 2 screws out of the input board cover and I am currently enjoying my tv. Not the best fix, but I can't find the loose connection causes my power light to blink.
Picture is not as good as it could be. Is there a place to go where I can find out how to manually adjust my convergence. I have a slightly bad spot in one corner, and need to tweak the convergence.
Does MoTVGuy still hang out here?
Thanks
You will need the manual to adjust or tweek the convergence my friend.
I HAVE access to Toshiba Service training disk. Do these have the methods for adjusting the convergence?
They should have a section on that. Send me those disc! LOL
