Panasonic DMR-ES10EB Help requested

I have owned a Panasonic DMR-ES10EB DVD recorder, for just over 13 months, and it has worked perfectly in this time, until last week.

It has now decided to record any programme off T.V or through Sky, in slow motion and no sound !

The unit has not been moved, disconnected, or tampered with. This is a mystery to me, and it's  'Doing my head in ', Can anyone HELP ???

Hmmm...  that's certainly an odd problem.  Though I have a few thoughts:

First, unlug the unit for an hour or so and plug it back in. This should reset the unit.

Next, check your scheduled recordings and make sure they're not corrupted. It may even be worth clearing them all out and setting them up again.

Verify the unit can pause live tv and resume with regular video and sound.

Try that and post back. Good luck!

Thanks for that info, Matt.  I unplugged the unit as you said and then re-set it.

It now records from my SKY, digibox, but not through the DVD recorders own Tuner !!!!  When I 'run'  Auto tune, the screen  says  ' NO SIGNAL, CHECK AERIAL CONNECTION '.

I have checked this and it is all connected, however I have looked at the co-ax from my Terrestrial aerial on the roof and its not in the best condition!!!  I am receiving a picture on the T.V. ( Terrestrial ) but again its not 100% brilliant, espescially Channel 4 & 5.

I am now thinking, would a new co-ax, cure this. What do you think???

P.S. the unit does not have a Hard Drive, it,s just a DVD recorder.

                Thanks again

Dave:  It sounds like there

Dave:  It sounds like there are a few problems here.  First, the fact that channel 3-4 are not clear suggests a bad ground connection from the coax cable.  Replacing the cable should clear this up.  Also, the tuner section of the recorder may be bad as well.  Try using a known good signal source (VCR?) that can send out channel 3 or 4 and record that.  If that comes through OK, then the problem may be external to the recorder.  If that does not work properly, the internal tuner is the most likely culprit.
