I have an NEC CT-2020A. When it is connected to cable the channels skip from channel 65 to channel 95 and then goes up to channel 99 before returning to channel 1. Punching in the numbers on my universal remote does not grant access to the missing channels either. Comedy Central in my area is on channel 66, so you can see my dilemma. Now when my cable is disconnected the television will go through channels 66-94. I considered looking for the original remote to try and access a menu perhaps, but I found a photo of the original remote (which is no longer available unless custom ordered) here. As you can see, there is no menu button on the remote. I am at the end of my rope. Does anyone know what is causing this problem, or how I can fix it?
Wow I remember these TV sets. This TV set has some age on it. There is a problem in the tuner or the PLL control circuit. Sorry to inform you parts are no longer available for this TV set and it would be less expensive to replace the TV set. Good Luck
If you're still seeking a solution to this problem, I have one. Older VCR's allow you to watch TV -through- the VCR. I have a friend who has an ancient TV set, and that's what she did, until the VCR died. The new one she purchased did not allow her to change channels through the VCR. So, the solution would be to use an old VCR that allows you to do that.
Yes the older VCR does allow the viewing on a VCR through a TV set, even in today's technologies. What's the point ? If I may ask?
I just got a TV that has the same problem. Did you figure out a way around this?

I purchased my NEC CT-2020A new back sometime in the 80s. It still works great except for skipping channels 66-95. So, today I decided to search for a manual online because I figured it was a setup problem. I was intrigued to see that this is some
