My wonderful tv is working fine, except for the volume component. There will be times that it goes completely mute for seconds at a time, and it is really annoying. Can anyone suggest any type of trouble shooting techniques?

Does this happen with all sources, or only one?
For example, does this only happen when viewing through a cable or satellite box, or does it happen when you watch a DVD, play a game, watch a VHS tape, etc?

Thanks for the response. The problem also seems to happen when I watch DVDs as well. We had the cable box changed on Monday but it still happened. Now there are three black bars with plus signs appearing on the screen. This happens with any type of veiwing. It's definitely from the TV. Any thoughts?
