There is too much red in my picture.

I am having a problem with my 27" diagonal RCA TruFlat™ Television model# 27F522T. I had a power surge on April 21st and my television is connected to a surge protector. I did not realize the dilemna until later in the morning. I found my electricity only delivering half the normal outage (lights were dull and electronics were not recieving full power.) and even stranger I found my television on (also only recieving half the normal power). I think that my television automatically turns on after a power outage even when it is off prior and that might have been the case why my television was on when I woke up.

When power was fully restored I found that my picture was showing too much red. I tried adjusting the color/saturation and tint. I have to keep the Brightness at 100 instead of 50 or else the picture is too dark. Turning the Color setting to 0 makes all the colors turn red (as though going to black and white but instead it's in different red shades) and pushing the color setting to 100 makes the colors more vibrant but it still has far too much red. The color or the television menus remain unaffected by this. I thought it might be my cable box but DVD movies are also affected.

The picture iteself (not the color) looks normal. Any ideas at all on how to fix this? Will it require a technician and would it be a costly repair? Anything over $100 is not worth it. This television is less than a year old. Please help me save it!

The color *on* the television

^That is what I meant to say. I am unable to edit my post. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem StepanPA.  It

No problem StepanPA.  It sounds like the RGB drivers on the CRT board or the CRT board itself is bad, or something in the regulator circuit is bad. Most likely it is going to cost over a hundred bucks, but you really cannot be sure unless you take the unit in for an estimate.  If you have had no previous electronic repair experience, I would highly recommed that you do not attempt any repairs on this set.  Play it safe!  Good Luck and let us know how this repair turns out for you.
