Mitsubishi TV Parental Lock bypass

Help! My name is Walt and my 84 yr old mother has messed up her tv ( 1993 Mitsubishi model CK31302) again.  1st she hit some buttons and a large black screen came up and covered the picture.  I was fortunate enough to get information to enter the menu area and go to text area and turn it off.  Well, it happened again and instead of calling me she went to the menu, got into the parental lock area, and now has the screen where it says parental lock is on.  When you turn the tv on the screen is blue with a message to enter a 4 digit code to remove the parental lock. I assume she hit some buttons and set a code  by accident.  I don't know if her remote is the original although it is a old looking mitsubishi remote.  I tried to hit the QV and #9 button at the same time and it does not release the parental lock.  Is there another way to circumvent this parental lock without me trying to enter every code imaginable.  She does not have the owners manual.  I know I am probably in big trouble here but if you could help me I would be forever grateful.  I am 57 years old and am not some kid trying to unlock a code. ( Who could come up with a story like this?) The set is a wooden console and weighs a 1000 lbs and is a bear to move and works great.  Just one last gasp before buying another.  I appreciate your technical wisdom and assistance.

To bypass the V-chip: You

To bypass the V-chip: You can view the locked shows by pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the remote at the same time, whenever your passcode is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV. To reset the code: When you use the button combination 9 and QV while entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this process deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a new passcode. If this does not work for you as you stated, make sure those buttons on the remote are working correctly. Good Luck

Thanks Larry,

I believe the remote is not the original but one that worked a Mitsubishi VCR.  I appreciate your reply.  Do you think one of those new "Miracle Remotes "  that are made for a specific TV and claim they have the ability to unlock the v-chip would work?

Thanks Larry,

Thanks Larry,

It's called a "Miracle Remote" and you can only buy them at Target.com.  They make different remotes for specific tv's.  You put the batteries in and do not have to program it as it only works for your set.  The Mitsubishi remote claims to work on all 1988 and above.  I have ordered one and will have it soon.  I will post another comment as soon as it comes in and I try it on my Mothers tv.  Hopefully this item may be helpful to all who have this problem but do not have the original remote.  Thanks for your assistance.

I have pretty much the same

I have pretty much the same problem, accept I am being input blocked and it asks me to enter a 4 digit code. I do not know where the 'QV' buttons are on my remote. Please enlighten me. Email me with an answer also if you could.
